Indee boys lose two

Offensive struggles hurt the Independence boys basketball team in two losses last week.

The Indees couldn’t keep up with Blair-Taylor’s high-powered attack as the Wildcats built up a 12-point halftime lead and went on for a 75-50 win last week Tuesday (see story elsewhere in Sports). It was more of the same on Friday as the Indees again failed to reach 60 points as they lost to New Auburn 66-53.

The losses put the Indees at 6-15 overall and 4-9 in Dairyland Conference play with their final game coming Thursday at Alma/Pepin.

The Indees earned the 10th seed in their Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Five bracket and will play at (7) Eleva-Strum this coming Tuesday. The winner will take on the winner of the game between (15) Coulee Christian) and (2) Blair-Taylor with the highest seed hosting next Friday. Bangor is the top seed in the bracket.

NA 66 Independence 53 - An eight-point halftime deficit turned into a 13-point loss for the Indees.

Independence stayed in the game through the first half, but New Auburn continued to pull away as the game progressed, turning a 33-25 halftime lead into a 66-53 win.

Tyler Kingsbury had a career-high 21 points to lead the Indees while Chris Killian scored 11. Dylan Marsolek was third on the team with five points as John Halama, Creed Brenner, Ben Pyka and John Roskos all scored four.
