Indees split with AC Lincoln, Alma/Pepin

The Independence/Gilmanton volleyball team won its first match last week, but fell in its second.

The Indees took 2-0 lead against Alma Center Lincoln last week Tuesday and went on for a 3-1 win. On Thursday, however, they couldn’t keep up with Alma/Pepin as they were swept.

I/G (7-10, 3-4) will close out its regular season against the top two teams in the Dairyland Conference. They play Cochrane-Fountain City (6-1) on Tuesday of this week and will host Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran (7-0) on Thursday. 

Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association play is set to begin next week, however, the brackets had not been released as of Monday.

The Hornets won the third set, but the Indees finished the match in the fourth.

I/G had a balanced attack at the net as Emma Cowen led the team with seven kills followed by Shauna Dejno, six; Makiyah Scow, five; Kassidi Dejno, four; Nora Schank, three; Adison Pronschinske and Jasmine Montalvo, one. Kassidi Dejno, Shauna Dejno and Schank all had one block.

Adison Pronschinske led the team with 20 set assists and was second with 17 digs. Kennedy had a team-high 21 digs, Schank added 12 while Arabelle Kniseley and Montalvo both had nine; Cowen, eight; Kassidi Dejno, seven and Scow, one.

Kniseley and Scow both had two service aces and Kennedy added one.

The Indees were close in the third set, but couldn’t avoid a sweep.

Scow and Schank both had three kills to tie for the team-lead while Shauna Dejno and Cowen both had two, Pronschinske, Montalvo and Kassidi Dejno had one. Schank also had the team’s only block. Pronschinske led the team with six assists. 

Kniseley had two aces while both Kennedy and Schank had one. 

Kennedy led the team with 21 digs, Pronschinske added 14; Cowen, 11; Schank, six; Kniseley, five; Montalvo, four and Kassidi Dejno, two.
