Norse girls drop three in DC play
It was a difficult week for the Whitehall girls basketball team, losing three Dairyland Conference games.
The Norse struggled offensively in all three contests, failing to reach 50 points. The team’s week began with a 48-33 loss to Alma Center Lincoln on Tuesday. Then the team lost to two of the top teams in the Dairyland Conference, falling to Blair-Taylor, 56-42, (see story elsewhere in Sports) on Thursday and Eleva-Strum, 78-49, on Friday.
The Norse began this week with a 1-4 record before Tuesday’s nonconference home game against Mondovi. The team welcomes Augusta on Thursday and then will be off until next Thursday when it hosts Osseo-Fairchild.
ACL 48 Whitehall 33
The Norse had a difficult time getting started as the team scored 11 points in the first half and trailed by 21 at halftime.
The Hornets scored the first 14 points in the game and never looked back. ACL went ahead by 20 at 23-3 midway through the first half. The road team maintained about a 20-point advantage for most of the rest of the game until the Norse cut it closer late.
Whitehall shot 19.7% from the field, including two-for-27 on three-point attempts. Paige Lisowski led the team with 16 points, no other player scored more than five.

E-S 78 Whitehall 49
The Norse had no answer for the Cardinals in the first half as the defending DC-Large Division champions scored 52 points before halftime.
The Cardinals didn’t shoot a particularly strong percentage from the field — 33.8% — but had 77 field goal attempts and 29 shots from the free-throw line. That was, in part, due to 32 Whitehall turnovers.
E-S took a 31-point lead into halftime. The Cardinals slowed down in the second half, but maintained control of the game.
Whitehall shot 32.8% from the field as Lisowski led the way with 12 points. Both Keymileth Mojica and Aryana Ausderau scored nine.
Avery Glenz scored 18 to lead E-S while Avaya Zwiefelhofer finished with 13, Aliza Kulig, 12 and both Maddea Brown and Brenley Bauer scored 11 points.
