Norse split with Lancers, Cardinals

The Whitehall volleyball team split its final two regular season matches and began playoff competition this week.

The Norse fell to Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran in straight sets on the road on Tuesday of last week. On Thursday, the Norse won two of the final three sets to beat Eleva-Strum, 3-2. 

Whitehall finished the regular season with a 13-13 overall record and a 6-4 mark in Dairyland Conference play. 

The sixth-seeded Norse hosted (11) Necedah in the opening round of Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association regional play on Tuesday of this week. The winner of that match will play at (3) Stevens Point Pacelli on Thursday with the regional final round set for Saturday.

The Lancers moved to 9-0 in Dairyland Conference play with a sweep of Whitehall on Tuesday.

The Norse had trouble getting going offensively. Paige Lisowski led the team with 11 kills while Bria Pank stuffed the stat sheet with six kills, eight assists, eight digs, one block and two aces. Rani Waldera was active at the net with four kills and three blocks.

Kyla Lambeck finished with 18 set assists and Avvia Herman had 10 digs.

The teams went back and forth, but Whitehall pulled through in the end. 

E-S, which was in contention for the DC title for much of the season, had two lopsided wins, but Whitehall won the close sets.

Lisowski was active with 15 kills and 22 digs. Kelsie Klomsten added 10 kills and Lambeck finished with 21 assists.
