Norse win two in DC play

The Whitehall volleyball team pulled off two sweeps in Dairyland Conference play last week.
Whitehall came out strong in both matches. On Tuesday, they opened with a 12-point win over Melrose-Mindoro as they went on for the sweep. Thursday’s match was a bit closer, while Whitehall won the first set by 14, the next two were decided by a total of five points, but both were WHS wins. The Norse went 2-2 in a tournament at Osseo-Fairchild on Saturday, further information was not available as of press time.
The Norse enter the final week of the regular season with a conference record of 4-4 and an overall mark of 9-14. They played at Alma Center Lincoln on Tuesday before hosting Alma/Pepin on Thursday to close out the regular season.
Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association competition is set to begin this coming Tuesday, however Whitehall’s Division Three bracket was not released as of press time this week.

The Norse controlled their match against the Mustangs, winning in three sets and outscoring their opponent 75-51.
Whitehall set the tone with a 12-point win in the first set then controlled the second with an eight-point victory to go ahead 2-0. The third set was closer, but the Norse finished the sweep.
Norah Youngbauer led Whitehall with 12 kills as they had a balanced attack at the net. Olivia Killian added nine kills while Avery Sonsalla and Sierra Kierstyn both had seven. Abby Koepke led the team with 28 set assists.
Kambrie Wurzer had 12 digs to lead the time, with Youngbauer adding 10.
Sonsalla led the team at the service line with four aces while Hailey Przybilla had two, Koepke, Kierstyn and Wurzer all had one ace.

After easily winning the first set, the Norse held on for two close wins to finish the sweep.
It looked like it would be an easy match after a 14-point victory to open the competition, but the Cardinals fought hard as the Norse won the second set by two and the third by three.
Whitehall had 15 aces in the match as Youngbauer had five, Sonsalla, four; Przybilla, three; Kierstyn, two and Avvia Herman, one.
Youngbauer also led the team with 12 kills, while Kierstyn had nine and Sonsalla put down seven. Koepke had 24 assists.
Wurzer led the team with 12 digs, Koepke had 10, Youngabuer added nine and Przybilla finished with eight.
