Red Hawks end season with narrow loss to Norsemen

The 2025 regular season finale between Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau and Westby proved to be about as close as it can be. In the end, it was the success and failure of a pair of two-point conversions that decided the outcome.

The Norsemen (3-6, 3-4 Coulee) scraped out an 8-6 victory over the Red Hawks (1-8, 1-6) in the final game of the 2025 season for both teams last Friday in Westby.

It was a defense-dominated game for most of the evening, with both teams held scoreless through the first three quarters. Each team finally found the end zone in the fourth quarter, with G-E-T scoring on an Adain Busch touchdown run and the Norsemen getting a touchdown run from Archer Carl.

Carl successfully punched in a conversion run after his touchdown while the Red Hawks came up empty in their conversion try, providing the difference in the final margin.

Busch rushed for 78 yards and that touchdown on three carries and hauled in three catches for 35 yards, providing at least a little bit of an explosive punch on an otherwise uneven night for the G-E-T offense. Sawyer Foust completed nine of 21 passes for 76 yards and an interception while the rushing attack put up 90 yards on 19 total carries.

Defensively, Isaiah Carroll came away with an interception and Kobee DeYoung recorded a sack.

As for Westby, Nate Frydendlund compiled a team-high 114 yards on 24 carries.
