Red Hawks end season with regional loss to Prescott

Second-seeded Prescott ended the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School softball team’s season last week.

Prescott (19-5 this season) collected 14 hits and 10 runs in six innings to defeat the Red Hawks, who finish the year with a 9-14 record.

Prescott scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning last Tuesday before the two teams held each other scoreless for several innings. The hosts found more scoring late, adding three runs in the fifth inning and four more an inning later to end the game.

Prescott pitcher Taylor Graf held the Red Hawks to three hits and struck out eight G-E-T batters.

Ellie Cox, Kinley Anderson and Tatum Johnson each finished with a hit for the Red Hawks, who were seeded seventh in the postseason bracket.

Senior Shayna Kirkey finished her G-E-T career on the mound with one strikeout and six walks.

Rory Zuehlsdorf led all players with four hits, and Kelsey Sterud added three for Prescott.
