Red Hawks sixth at Viking Classic

Two players in the field broke 80 and the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School girls golf team finished sixth at an invitational meet in Holmen last week.
Tomah had its way with Drugan’s Castle Mound Golf Course, winning the seven-team event with 344 strokes.
The Timberwolves’ top finish was highlighted by a medalist round of 2-over-par 74 from sophomore Karma Hasselberger, enough to edge a 78 from Holmen’s Jayeanna Palm.
Holmen finished second at the event with a 350, followed by Aquinas (371), Onalaska (393), Tomah’s second team (408), G-E-T (438) and La Crosse (517).
Senior Alexis Murphy cracked the top-15 for G-E-T with a 97 to tie with three other players for 15th.
Anna Motszko was the next best score for the Red Hawks at 112 as the senior tied for 34th. The team rounded out its scores with a 113 from Jada Schmitt, a 116 from junior Claire Wagner and a 120 from Chloe Applin.
The Red Hawks will continue play this week with a conference competition at Viroqua Hills Golf Course on Wednesday.
