Rotering cracks top five, G-E-T teams seventh at Lake Mills run
Adrianna Rotering was in the top cluster of individual runners to lead the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau cross country team last Friday at the Lake Mills Invitational, an event that saw the Red Hawks finish seventh as a team in both the boys and girls races.
Rotering, a senior, was the lone Red Hawk to finish inside the top 20 in either race and her time of 20 minutes, 22.56 seconds beaten by just three other runners on Friday.
Emmerson Drobac of Deerfield/Cambridge won the girls’ event in 18:44.57, more than a minute clear of the second-place time of 20:03.19 from Shorewood senior Amie Gronert.
Gronert led the pace of the race on a day her team won the girls’ event with 59 points. West Salem finished second with 80, followed by Lakeside Lutheran’s 84, Deerfield/Cambridge’s 114 and North Fond du Lac Oakfield’s 123 to round out the top five teams.
Madison Edgewood (125) was the only other team to beat G-E-T’s 167, which was enough to beat Waupun (169) and host Lake Mills (237) at the event run at Lake Mills Golf Course.
Senior AJ Parker and freshman Isabella Tibbitts took 35th and 36th, respectively, to help the Red Hawks’ scores, and junior Reyna Garcia finished 43rd.
Anya Wolfe (56th), Ellie Gold (62nd) and Jasmine Tarjeson (68th) also finished in the top 70 runners for G-E-T.
The Red Hawk boys also finished seventh in the boys’ race, which was won by Lakeside Lutheran.
Cameron Weiland of Lakeside Lutheran ran the fastest time of any runner on Friday, finishing first in the 5,000-meter race in 15:55.64. Lakeside Lutheran won the team title with 48 points.
West Salem also placed second in the boys’ race by scoring 53 points, followed by Shorewood (64), Madison Edgewood (90) and Waupun (168).
