Small group of Raiders compete at Dick Mitchell Invitational
A small selection of Arcadia cross country runners took part at a weekend meet in West Salem.
Junior Nathan Badillo had the best showing of any Raider runner at last Saturday’s Dick Mitchell Invitational — hosted by La Crosse Central at the Maple Grove Venues — as he posted a time of 18 minutes, 51.7 seconds to place 23rd the boys’ 5,000-meter race.
The Arcadia boys also had senior Bryan Simon in 73rd and junior Reese Kujak in 74th. In the girls’ race, the Raiders had freshman Samantha Bustos-Sandoval in 58th and sophomore Shannon Cruz in 61st.
Arcadia did not have enough runners competing to qualify for the team standings in either race.
The Eastview boys ended up atop the team standings with 24 points, ahead of West Salem in second at 40 points. Westby accrued 34 points to finish first in the girls’ standings, with La Crosse Aquinas in second at 68 points.
Eastview junior Luke Bakken (16:20.8) crossed the finish line first in the boys’ race and Westby senior Elizabeth Curtis (19:23.0) won the girls’ race.
Arcadia will host a weekend meet this coming Saturday. The first of the high school races will get underway at 10:30 a.m.
