Two conference foes take down Arcadia softball

A pair of Coulee Conference opponents took down the Arcadia High School softball team last week.

The Raiders dropped a Tuesday matchup with Westby before G-E-T scored late to beat the Raiders last Thursday (see story elsewhere in Sports).

Arcadia (1-5, 1-4 Coulee Conference) is scheduled to play Independence on Monday before visits to Black River Falls on Tuesday and another to Luther on Thursday.

The Norse grabbed a three-run advantage in the first inning and never gave back the momentum in last Tuesday’s conference tilt.

Westby’s Kenzie Steiner blasted two home runs for the visitors, whom added a handful of runs in the sixth inning to close the contest. The Norse have proven to be one of the stronger teams in the conference so far at 5-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Coulee.

Arcadia was held to three hits in the loss, one that saw pitcher Kaitlyn Bremer allow five hits. Arcadia allowed just two earned runs in the game as the Raiders had seven errors.

Bremer threw six strikeouts and a pair of walks.
