Whitehall legion team loses two

The Hutchins-Stendahl Post 191 baseball team is still looking for its first win after losing to a pair of successful programs last week.

In its second year, the Whitehall ball club ran into a couple of squads that have had success in both the spring and summer in recent years. Post 191 allowed four runs in the first inning of a 12-1 loss against Bangor last week Tuesday. They were close against West Salem’s team on Thursday, but were shutout, 4-0. Whitehall was scheduled to play Tomah on Friday, but the game was postponed. 

Whitehall fell to 0-5 in Coulee Region American Legion Baseball League play, one of three winless teams in the Halverson Division. Bangor sits atop the standings at 6-0, while Holmen and Onalaska are both 4-1. 

Post 191 was slated to play at Black River Falls on Tuesday of this week before taking on Osseo at home. Next Thursday, they’ll host Sparta before playing at Holmen on Saturday.

Bangor 12 Whitehall 1

The Bangor team came out swinging as to remain undefeated in league play.

Aryn Lochen was in control on the mound, striking out five without a walk and holding Whitehall to five hits. He had plenty of run support as Bangor scored nine runs in the first two innings to take a 9-1 lead. They added another run in the third and two in the fourth as they won by the mercy rule in five innings. 

Whitehall had five hits in the game, no more information was reported to the Times.

W. Salem 4 Whitehall 0

Brayden Lisowski’s pitching helped keep Whitehall in the game, but West Salem eventually broke through and Whitehall’s offense never got going.

The game was scoreless through three innings, but West Salem was able to string together some hits and score three runs in the third. They added another in the fourth.

Whitehall managed just four hits in the game. While they threatened to score early, they couldn’t push any runs across the plate. No further information was reported to the Times.
