Whitehall net season ends with regional sweep

The Whitehall volleyball team played the higher seed close, but couldn’t come away with a win in last week Tuesday’s opening round of Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association play. 

The 10th-seeded Norse were in every set, but lost all by at least four points to seventh-seeded Durand. Durand was swept by (2) Fall Creek on Thursday. With a 3-1 win over Cadott in Saturday’s regional final, the Crickets will represent that half of the regional in the sectional match against Chippewa Falls McDonell Central Catholic. 

Whitehall finished the season with a 9-10 record.

The Norse had some issues at the service line and Durand took advantage.

Whitehall serves successfully on 81.7 percent of its attempts, 10 full percentage points lower than Durand. Whitehall had four aces, half as many a Durand had in the match. 

Olivia Killian led Whitehall at the net with nine kills and four blocks. Aryana Ausderau had five kills while Trinity Aasen had three, Harlow Foss finished with two and both Kelsie Klomsten and Avvia Herman had one. Aasen and Ashlyn Clatt both had one block.

Herman, Hailey Przybilla, Clatt and Foss had Whitehall’s aces. 

Kyla Lambeck led the team with nine set assists, one more than Przybilla. 

Whitehall’s defensive effort was spread out as Lambeck led the team with nine digs while both Foss and Przybilla had eight, Brinna Goplins, six; Herman, five; Killian, four; Klomsten, three; Ausderau and Clatt, two.
