Wildcats close regular season with two wins
The Blair-Taylor volleyball team came out of a rough patch with two wins last week.
B-T had lost eight of its last nine matches against some tough competition, but came away with a five-set victory over Mondovi last week Monday before topping Augusta, 3-1, on Thursday.
The Wildcats finished conference play in a three-way tie — with Eleva-Strum and Whitehall — for fourth place with a 5-4 record. They took their 9-12 overall mark into Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association play with a match at Spring Valley on Tuesday.
B-T is the 13th seed and SV is the fourth in their Division Three bracket. The winner will likely play at (5) Eau Claire Regis on Thursday with the regional final set for Saturday.

The Wildcats rebounded from a lopsided loss in the fourth set to win the fifth.
After picking up a 10-point win in the third set, B-T had a chance to clinch the match in the fourth, but that went Mondovi’s way with a 14-point win for the Buffaloes. The Wildcats regrouped and held on to win the fifth to get the match victory.
Chloe Medenblik led B-T with 14 kills while Andrea Waldera added six kills and six blocks. The team also got three kills from Ryleigh Seitz, two from Sara Steffenson and one from Emma Nyen. Seitz added six blocks, Steffenson had five.
Setting duties were split at Anna White led the team with nine assists, Madalynn Frederixon had five and Nyen finished with two.
Paige Kelly led the squad with 35 digs, Frederixon added 16 and Waldera had 14.

After the Beavers chewed out one win, the Wildcats finished the match with a convincing victory.
B-T won the first two sets by a combined 13 points before Augusta fought to get a close win in the third. That momentum didn’t carry over, however, as the Wildcats regained control and cruised for a 12-point win.
Medenblik and Waldera again controlled play at the net. Medenblik, a freshman, led the team with 13 kills, while adding two blocks. Waldera, a sophomore, had nine kills and a team-best five blocks. The team also got five kills apiece from Seitz and Steffenson while Frederixon had three and Woodard finished with one. Frederixon also had a block and a team-high 12 assists. White had nine assists for the team.
Waldera was also on the mark from the service line with five aces, Medenblik and White both had three, Frederixon and Kelly had two and Beam had one.
Kelly led the team with 14 digs, White added 10; Frederixon, nine; Beam, seven and Waldera, four.
