Wiseman resigns as G-E-T football coach

Jeff Wiseman has resigned from his position as Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School’s head football coach, according to discussions at last Monday’s G-E-T School Board meeting.

Wiseman, whose reason for leaving was not given at the meeting, coached the Red Hawks to a 1-8 record in 2021, his first season as head coach. He replaced Jon Steffenhagen, who coached the team for 26 seasons, finishing with 160 wins and 20 playoff appearances.

The open position was posted by the district this week, activities director Rick Schmidt told the Times. A timeline for a new hire was not known as of last week.
